In my estimate, a great photographer captures images that convey a deep meaning beyond the image itself. In this sense I say Vishnu is a great amateur photographer. It is interesting and strangely agreable how the text changes midway from poetry to prose and the sentiment lightens and becomes more casual. A truly moving and beautiful book.

These photographs are outstanding and capture life, people and nature in a refreshingly non pretentious manner. Evocative faces, striking landscapes, arresting juxtapositions... All making for a treasure trove of stirring images, in myriad themes, that can be enjoyed over and over again.

For me this volume's success is that the photographer looks at the the human condition, the lives of ordinary people and shows once again, how triumphant is the human spirit that shines through as or even more beautifully than Kashmir itself !

A truthful and earnest attempt to capture the uniqueness of Kashmir locales and its people in myriad of colors and moods. The pictures evoke multiple emotions and are supplemented by meaningful text. ..all through the eyes of a photo lense enthusiast.

Moments in life are so many. Very few photographers bring to life the grandeur and potentials of the world we inhabit. One such, an amateur traveller, a passionate photographer, a gentle man carried away by a love so strong that he felt altered with a camera in his hands, gave birth to his baby, his first masterpiece "Kashmir", a coffee table book.
Vishnu Patro, a name synonymous with amateur photography and travelling, gushed star-struck into this beautiful valley long lost in the Mist of hatred, unrest, a strife- ridden zone. He brings to life decades of beauty, the ebullient people, the tantalising grandeur which now lay hid under mutilated scars and in the lost eyes of the people floundering in this lost valley.
Mr. Vishnu starts with 'Time in Transition' pictured like a cameo on the faces of the patriarch, the son, the husband, the child, the houseboat-owner, the carpet-seller, one can go on turning each breath taking page.
One is fascinated by eyes darting for hope, closed in faith or sunk in the debris of hopelessness. Yet each one willing to live and bring back to life a slice of that beautiful Paradise. The Book gives birth to a deep hunger for more of that beauty that exudes a delicious fascination for a piece of this heaven. At the turn of every page we acquiesce with Mr. Vishnu, at the same time he hasn't lost the harrowing tales writ in every nook and corner of this picturesque landscape.
Hold the book and your atavistic fear of hatred and unrest is lost in each vulnerably tender picture which comes to life before your very eyes articulating volumes.
Vishnu's expertise can be completely accepted in bring to life the exquisite beauty of the length and breadth of the Valley, awakening it from a deep, dark, thick misty slumber.
Eventually a wonderful book to own and possess.
